This suit was inspired by a 1955 Givenchy design.

VIEW A
 
This is dress has a princess line bodice and dropped waist.
Stay stitch the curve on the bodice side front.  Clip curves.
 

 Stitch the bodice pieces.


 Shoulder seams
 
 
 Stitch the lining to the bodice at the neckline and the armholes.
 
 
 Side seams
 
 
 Underskirt and lining, cut about 1/2" off the bottom of the lining.
 
 
 Stitch the skirt to the lining, under-stitch.
 


Press the center fronts of the overskirts.
 

 Stitch the overskirt to the bodice.
 

 Hand stitch the back opening to the lining.
 
 
 Stitch the lining to the center back.
 
 
 Hem the overskirt
 
 
 Stitch the front facings to the hem.
 
 
VIEW B


 Stitch the skirt lining to the bottom of the skirt.
 
 
 Under-stitch the seam.
 
 
 Gather the skirt lining to the lining yoke.
 
 
Gather the skirt to the bodice, stitch up the center back seam.
 

Fit the lining yoke to the bodice by making a few tucks at the waistline.

The side fronts are stitched to the center fronts, and the side backs are stitched to center back.
 
 
 Shoulder seams and collar


Jacket lining
 

Stiff tulle gives the sleeve ruffles body.
 

 Fold sleeve ruffle in half.
 

Ease stitch the tops of the sleeves and gather stitch the sleeve ruffles.
 

 Sleeves and ruffles stitched to the jacket.
 
 
 Jacket lining stitched to the jacket.

 

 Peplum
 
 

Use pinking sheers to remove the fullness in the seam allowance (optional) 
 
 


Press peplum seams open.
 
 



Press side seams open.
 



Hand stitch the sleeve lining to the sleeve ruffle.



I can't even say what these look like.



Hand stitch the ends of the sleeve ruffle together.








Hand stitch the lining to the suit.


 
Skirt

Darts and side seams


Cut off bottom of skirt lining.
 

 Under stitch the lining.

Beret
 

 Mark the beret opening


 Hem the beret opening and stitch the hat pieces together.

Coat
 
Make sure to cut all the pattern pieces going in the same direction of the fabric's nap.
 

Stitch the darts in the jacket fronts.

 
Stay-stitch and clip the curved seams on the front facings.
 

Mark the tucks in the front lining pieces.
 

Stitch the center back seams, clip the curves.
 
 
Stay-stitch the neckline.
 
 
Stitch the ends of the collar.
 
 
Ease-stitch the top of the sleeves,
 
 
 What the coat looks like before the lining is stitched in.

Interfacing fused to the hat pieces.
 
 
Wonder-under fused to the edge of the hat.
 
 
Lining fused to the hat top and the hat crown folded and pressed.
 
 
Hand stitch the crown to the top.
 
Scarf
 
Zig zag the edge of the scarf.
