Style 104

This design was inspired by a 1953 Modes Royale design. Pattern includes instructions for the coat, strapless sheath, hat, belt, and umbrella.

Sleeve button placement

Using this picture as an example, have the pleat on the sleeve more towards the coat front and not on the shoulder seem like I did it. The buttons will then be more visible when looking at the coat from the front.

Bow placement

No button at the waistline, just a small stitch

See why a button on the waist isn’t necessary?

  1. Hi Diane. I know you won't remember me but I met you briefly at the San Francisco Sandra Stillwell convention, Golden Gate Glamor. I have admired your work for quite a while! The reason? When I was a young teen I lived in Panama (the Canal Zone) and was a great fan of Modes Royale. I graduated from high school in 1956 so you see, these two patterns were the style when I was a freshman and sophomore. I actually have the original pattern magazine with this style in it. I remember it because I loved it then. I couldn't resist buying the mini version, as well as No. 101, to make for Gene! I will also resize them for my American Model, if that is okay.

    Regards,
